Who are the top five U.S. eco-activist athletes competing in the Beijing 2008 Olympics?

Here’s the list according to the Grist:

1 - LeBron James, U.S., Basketball = James is teaming up with SpongeBob SquarePants for the Nickelodeon’s Big Green Help campaign, which is aimed at encouraging kids to go green.

2 - Amanda Beard, U.S., Swimming = Beard is an all around wildlife advocate, with her recent a public service announcement (PSA) for WildAid that calls attention to the plight of sharks. Beard has also appeared in TV ads for Defenders of Wildlife.

3 - Adam Craig, U.S., Cycling = Craig has signed the GreenLaces campaign, which asks athletes to make a personalized promise to reduce their environmental impact.

4 - Heather O’Reilly, U.S., Soccer = O’Reilly has also taken the GreenLaces pledge to help protect the planet.

5- Aaron Peirsol, U.S., Swimming = Peirsol has partnered with Oceana on a Race for the Oceans campaign, which encourages swimmers and swim fans to “dive into ocean conservation.”
